Teaching Style and Philosophy

I am a bass-baritone singer offering personalized voice lessons to students of all levels—from beginners to advanced musicians. My teaching spans genres including classical, musical theater, jazz, gospel, R&B, pop, and African music. I help students achieve their personal musical goals while discovering and cultivating their authentic voice.

My approach integrates scientific principles and artistic expression. I emphasize vocal anatomy, physiology, acoustics, and kinesthetic awareness to guide students in healthy, sustainable vocal production. Each lesson is customized to the student’s abilities, proficiency, and musical style, focusing on posture, breath management, resonance, and technical mastery. By combining kinesthetic feedback with anatomical understanding, I help students develop vocal freedom, longevity, and expressive versatility.

Having overcome challenges in my own vocal training, I understand the difficulties students often face, and I am committed to helping students gain stability, control, and confidence in their voices. I have successfully guided singers across genres to strengthen and expand their vocal range, improve tone quality, and perform with confidence, versatility, and emotional depth.

I am an adjunct voice instructor at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (SWBTS), where I am pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts in Vocal Performance, Pedagogy, and Church Music. I have taught voice at various academies in Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, and Texas, collaborated with institutions to develop comprehensive curricula, and currently run a private virtual teaching studio while maintaining an active performance career. Before relocating to the United States, I also taught at multiple music academies in Lagos, Nigeria, preparing students for local and international singing examinations.

In addition to private instruction, I consult for churches and train worship leaders and choirs, helping ensembles develop expressive, healthy, and cohesive vocal techniques for congregational and performance settings.

Ultimately, my philosophy centers on the balance between scientific insight and creative artistry. By integrating evidence-based techniques with individualized instruction, I empower students and ensembles to explore their full expressive potential while safeguarding the health and longevity of their voices. My teaching fosters technical mastery, artistic freedom, and a lifelong connection to music, enabling every student and choir member to discover and cultivate their authentic voice.
