Renewal (A Two-Man Musical) Addressing Conflict in Marriage from the Perspective of the Gospel.

Synopsis

Set against the backdrop of a bustling Urban city, Renewal (A Two-Man Musical): Addressing Conflict in Marriage from the Perspective of the Gospel of Christ – is a peep into the lives of a Christian married couple working through their marital struggles. The ebb and flow of sweet moments and crises inadvertently leads them to search for answers in God’s word.

The plot begins with fond memories on a Saturday morning of how Aduke and Adesina first met but spirals into odd conversations and attitudes betraying a performance-based love that insists on its selfish ways instead of lovingly serving one another. They gradually turn against each other as enemies that consistently disagree on many issues. Thank God for His forgiving grace, mercy, and love that convicted Aduke and Adesina through His Word and restored their marriage against all odds. The musical ended with the celebration of God’s grace and forgiveness extended to one as the couple set on a new adventure with promises to align with God’s Word – inspiring them to be gracious, humble, understanding, loving, and many more towards one another.

This is a Scripture-inspired plot with original multi-genre composition employing African folklore, African American spirituals, classical, Gospel, and popular music. Inspiration from 1 Peter 3:1-9, Ephesians 5:21-33, 1 Corinthians 13, and many more, plus influences from various interviews with Christian professional counselors/therapists.

Renewal musical is an inspiration from the Holy Spirit. The aim is to show that the marriage union is nothing without God and His word at its center. To encourage believers of Christ to use the manual (the Scriptures) the author of marriage (God) gave us to transform their marriage and not conform to the non-biblical cultural influences that break unions, homes, and society. It also reminds couples to speak up and seek Godly counsel, especially in their local church assembly and with other Christian professionals.

The Two-Man performance would last about 75 minutes, followed by a 20-minute talk-back session for the audience to ask questions and give feedback. There will also be an opportunity to reintroduce the local assembly’s home-based pre- and post-marriage counselors to their congregation and guest.

You can also send an email if you would like to partner with us by bringing “Renewal” to your location.
